1 1Paul and 2Silvanus and 3Timothy, To the 4church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ : 5Grace to you and peace. 2 6We give thanks to God always for all of you, 7making mention of you in our prayers ; 3 constantly bearing in mind your 8work of faith and labor of 9love and a10steadfastness of hope bin our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of 11our God and Father, 4 knowing, 12brethren beloved by God, 13His choice of you; 5 for our 14gospel did not come to you in word only, but also 15in power and in the Holy Spirit and with 16full conviction ; just as you know 17what kind of men we cproved to be among you for your sake. 6 You also became 18imitators of us and of the Lord, 19having received 20the word in much tribulation with the 21joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you became an example to all the believers in 22Macedonia and in 23Achaia. 8 For 24the word of the Lord has 25sounded forth from you, not only in 26Macedonia and 27Achaia, but also 28in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything. 9 For they themselves report about us what kind of a d29reception we had ewith you, and how you 30turned to God 31from fidols to serve g32a living and true God, 10 and to 33wait for His Son from hheaven, whom He 34raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who 35rescues us from 36the wrath to come.New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, California.
