8Havingsofond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to 1impart to you not only the 2gospel of God but also our ownalives, because you had becomebverydear to us.
For you recall, brethren, our 3labor and hardship, how 4workingnight and dayso as not to be a 5burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the 6gospel of God.
You are witnesses, and so is 7God, 8howdevoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we cbehaved toward you dbelievers ;
11just as you knowhow we were 9exhorting and encouraging and e10imploringeachone of you as 11a father would his ownchildren,
12so that you would 12walk in a mannerworthy of the God who 13calls you into His ownkingdom and 14glory.
For thisreason we alsoconstantly15thankGod that when you received the 16word of Godwhich you heard from us, you accepted it 17not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, 18whichalsoperforms its work in you who believe.
For you, brethren, became19imitators of 20the churches of God in ChristJesus that are 21in Judea, for 22you alsoendured the samesufferings at the hands of your owncountrymen, 23even as they did from the Jews,
1524who bothkilled the LordJesus and 25the prophets, and fdrove us out. gThey are not pleasing to God, hbut hostile to allmen,
1626hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles27so that they may be saved ; with the result that they always28fill up the measure of their sins. But 29wrath has come upon them ito the utmost.
But we, brethren, having been takenaway from you for a jshortwhile -30in kperson, not in lspirit -were all the moreeager with greatdesire31to see your face.
18mFor 32we wanted to come to you-I, Paul, n33morethanonce -and yet 34Satan35hindered us.
