We are destroyingspeculations and every1loftythingraised up against the knowledge of God, and we are takingeverythoughtcaptive to the 2obedience of Christ,
and we are ready to punishalldisobedience, whenever3your obedience is complete.
7a4You are looking at bthings as they are outwardly . 5Ifanyone is confident in himself that he is Christ's, let him considerthisagainwithinhimself, that just as he is Christ's, 6soalso are we.
For evenif7I boastsomewhatcfurtherabout our 8authority, which the Lordgave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be put to shame,
9dfor I do not wish to seem as if I would terrify you by my letters.
For they say, "His letters are weighty and strong, but his epersonalpresence is 9unimpressive and 10his speechcontemptible."
Let such a personconsiderthis, that what we are in word by letters when absent, suchpersons we are also in deed when present.
For we are not bold to classorcompareourselves with fsome of those who 11commendthemselves ; but when they measurethemselves by themselves and comparethemselves with themselves, they are withoutunderstanding.
But we will not boast12beyond our measure, but g13within the measure of the spherewhichGodapportioned to us as a measure, to reacheven as far as you.
For we are not overextendingourselves, as if we did not reach to you, for 14we were the first to comeeven as far as you in the 15gospel of Christ ;
not boasting16beyond our measure, that is, in 17othermen'slabors, but with the hope that as 18your faithgrows, we will be, hwithin our sphere, 19enlargedevenmore by you,
