1Again I say, let no one think me foolish ; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little.

What I am saying, I am not saying a2as the Lord would, but as 3in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting.

Since 4many boast 5according to the flesh, I will boast also.

For you, 6being so wise, tolerate the foolish gladly.

For you tolerate it if anyone 7enslaves you, anyone 8devours you, anyone 9takes advantage of you, anyone 10exalts himself, anyone 11hits you in the face.

To my 12shame I must say that we have been 13weak by comparison. But in whatever respect anyone else 14is bold -I 15speak in foolishness -I am just as bold myself.

Are they 16Hebrews ? 17So am I. Are they 18Israelites ? 19So am I. Are they b20descendants of Abraham ? 21So am I.

Are they 22servants of Christ ?-I speak as if insane -I more so ; in c23far more labors, in d24far more imprisonments, e25beaten times without number, often in 26danger of death.

Five times I received from the Jews 27thirty-nine lashes.

Three times I was 28beaten with rods, once I was 29stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent in the deep.

I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my 30countrymen, dangers from the 31Gentiles, dangers in the 32city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among 33false brethren ;

I have been in 34labor and hardship, fthrough many sleepless nights, in 35hunger and thirst, often 36without food, in cold and g37exposure.

Apart from such hexternal things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for 38all the churches.

Who is 39weak without my being weak ? Who is iled into sin jwithout my intense concern ?

If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my 40weakness.

The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, 41He who is blessed forever, 42knows that I am not lying.

In 43Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was 44guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to seize me,

and I was let down in a basket 45through a window kin the wall, and so escaped his hands.
