and through Him 3everyone who believes is freed from allthings, from which you could not be freedthrough the Law of Moses.

"Thereforetakeheed, so that the thingspoken of 4in the Prophets may not come upon you:

'5BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND PERISH; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORKWHICH YOU WILL NEVER*BELIEVE, THOUGHSOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.' "

As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that thesethings might be spoken to them the next6Sabbath.

Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the 7God-fearing8proselytesfollowedPaul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in 9the grace of God.
Paul Turns to the Gentiles
44 The next10Sabbathnearly the wholecityassembled to hear the word of the Lord.

But when 11the Jewssaw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the thingsspoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.

Paul and Barnabasspoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you 12first; since you repudiate it and judgeyourselvesunworthy* of eternallife, behold, 13we are turning to the Gentiles.

"For so the Lord has commanded us, '14I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A 15LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING*SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.' "
