Then it seemedgood to 1the apostles and the elders, with the wholechurch, to choosemen from among them to send to 2Antioch with Paul and Barnabas-JudascalledBarsabbas, and 3Silas, leadingmenamong4the brethren,

and they sent this letter by them, "5The apostles and the brethren who are elders, to 6the brethren in 7Antioch and 8Syria and 9Ciliciawho are from the Gentiles, 10greetings.

"Since we have heard that 11some of our number to whom we gavenoinstruction have 12disturbed you with their words, unsettling your souls,

13 it seemedgood to us, having become of onemind, to selectmen to send to you with our belovedBarnabas and Paul,
26
men who have 14risked their lives for the name of our LordJesusChrist.

"Therefore we have sent15Judas and 16Silas, who themselves will alsoreport the samethings by word of mouth.
28
"For 17it seemedgood to 18the HolySpirit and to 19us to lay upon you nogreaterburdenthantheseessentials:
29
that you abstain from 20thingssacrificed to idols and from 21blood and from 22thingsstrangled and from 23fornication; if you keepyourselvesfree from suchthings, you will dowell. Farewell."

So when they were sentaway, 24they wentdown to Antioch; and having gathered the congregationtogether, they delivered the letter.

When they had read it, they rejoicedbecause of its encouragement.

25Judas and 26Silas, alsobeing27prophetsthemselves, encouraged and strengthened28the brethren with a lengthymessage.

After they had spenttime there, they were sentaway from the brethren29in peace to those who had 30sent them out.

But 31Paul and Barnabasstayed in Antioch, teaching and 32preaching with manyothersalso, 33the word of the Lord.
Second Missionary Journey
36AftersomedaysPaulsaid to Barnabas, "Let us return and visit the brethren in 34everycity in which we proclaimed35the word of the Lord, and see how they are."

Barnabaswanted to take36John, calledMark, along with them also.

But Paul kept insisting that they should not take him along who had 37deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.

And there occurred such a sharpdisagreement that they separated from oneanother, and Barnabastook38Mark with him and sailedaway to 39Cyprus.

But Paulchose40Silas and left, being 41committed by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.

And he was travelingthrough42Syria and 43Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
