and he, having receivedsuch a command, threw them into the innerprison and fastened their feet in 1the stocks.

But aboutmidnight2Paul and Silas were praying and 3singinghymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;

and suddenly4there came a greatearthquake, so that the foundations of the prisonhouse were shaken; and immediately5all the doors were opened and everyone's6chains were unfastened.

When 7the jailerawoke and saw the prisondoorsopened, he drew his sword and was about8to killhimself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.

But Paulcried out with a loudvoice, saying, "Do not harmyourself, for we are allhere!"

And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he felldownbefore9Paul and Silas,
30
and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, 10whatmust I do to be saved?"
The Jailer Converted
31 They said, "11Believe in the LordJesus, and you will be saved, you and 12your household."

And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with allwho were in his house.
33
And he took them 13that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.
34
And he brought them into his house and setfoodbefore them, and rejoicedgreatly, having believed in God with 14his wholehousehold.
