4And some of them were persuaded and joined5Paul and Silas, along with a largenumber of the 6God-fearing7Greeks and a number* of the 8leadingwomen.

But 9the Jews, becomingjealous and takingalongsomewickedmen from the marketplace, formed a mob and set the city in an uproar; and attacking the house of 10Jason, they were seeking to bring them out to the people.

When they did not find them, they began 11draggingJason and somebrethrenbefore the cityauthorities, shouting, "Thesemen who have upset12the world have comeherealso;

and Jason13has welcomed them, and they allact14contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is anotherking, Jesus."

They stirred up the crowd and the cityauthorities who heardthesethings.

And when they had received a pledge from 15Jason and the others, they released them.
Paul at Berea
1016The brethrenimmediatelysent17Paul and Silasaway by night to 18Berea, and when they arrived, they went into 19the synagogue of the Jews.

Nowthese were morenoble-minded than those in 20Thessalonica, for they received the word with greateagerness, examining the Scripturesdaily* to see whetherthesethings were so.

Therefore21many of them believed, along with a number* of 22prominentGreek23women and men.

But when the Jews of 24Thessalonicafound out that the word of God had been proclaimed by Paul in 25Bereaalso, they camethere as well, agitating and stirring up the crowds.
