But when Paul was about to 1open his mouth, Galliosaid to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongor of viciouscrime, OJews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;

but if there are 2questionsaboutwords and names and your own law, lookafter it yourselves; I amunwilling* to be a judge of these matters."

And they alltookhold of 4Sosthenes, 5the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of 6the judgmentseat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of thesethings.

Paul, having remainedmanydayslonger, 7tookleave of 8the brethren and put out to sea for 9Syria, and with him were 10Priscilla and 11Aquila. In 12Cenchrea he 13had his haircut, for he was keeping a vow.

They came to 14Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himselfentered15the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

When they asked him to stay for a longertime, he did not consent,

but 16takingleave of them and saying, "I will return to you again17if Godwills," he setsail from 18Ephesus.

When he had landed at 19Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and wentdown to 20Antioch.

23 And having spentsometime there, he left and passedsuccessivelythrough the 21Galatianregion and Phrygia, strengtheningall the disciples.

Now a Jewnamed22Apollos, an 23Alexandrian by birth, an eloquentman, came to 24Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.
