11God was performing4extraordinarymiracles by the hands of Paul,

5so that handkerchiefsoraprons were evencarried from his body to the sick, and the diseasesleft them and 6the evilspiritswent out.

But alsosome of the Jewish7exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to nameoverthose who had the evilspirits the name of the LordJesus, saying, "I adjure you by JesuswhomPaulpreaches."

Sevensons of oneSceva, a Jewishchiefpriest, were doingthis.

And the evilspiritanswered and said to them, "I recognizeJesus, and I knowaboutPaul, but who are you?"

And the man, in whom was the evilspirit, leaped on them and subduedall of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that housenaked and wounded.

Thisbecameknown to all, bothJews and Greeks, who lived in 8Ephesus; and fearfell upon them all and the name of the LordJesus was being magnified.

Manyalso of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices.

And many of those who practicedmagicbrought their bookstogether and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty*thousand9pieces of silver.

So10the word of the Lord11was growingmightily and prevailing.
