'But get up and 1stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to 2appoint you a 3minister and 4a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you;

5rescuing you 6from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,

to 7open their eyes so that they may turn from 8darkness to light and from the dominion of 9Satan to God, that they may receive10forgiveness of sins and an 11inheritanceamongthose who have been sanctified by 12faith in Me.'

"So, KingAgrippa, I did not provedisobedient to the heavenlyvision,

but kept declaringboth13to those of Damascusfirst, and also 14at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even 15to the Gentiles, that they should 16repent and turn to God, performingdeeds17appropriate to repentance.

"For thisreason some Jews18seized me in the temple and tried19to put me to death.

"So, having obtainedhelp from God, I stand to thisday20testifyingboth to small and great, statingnothing but what21the Prophets and Mosessaid was going to takeplace;

22that the Christ was to suffer, and that 23by reason of His resurrection from the dead He would be the first to proclaim24lightboth to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."

While Paul was sayingthis in his defense, Festussaid in a loudvoice, "Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great25learning is driving you mad."

But Paulsaid, "I am not out of my mind, 26mostexcellentFestus, but I utterwords of sobertruth.

"For the king27knowsaboutthese matters, and I speak to him also with confidence, since I am persuaded that none* of thesethingsescape his notice; for this has not beendone in a corner.
