"Men of Israel, listen to thesewords: 1Jesus the Nazarene, 2a man[a]attested to you by God with [b]miracles and 3wonders and [c]signswhichGodperformedthrough Him in your midst, just as you yourselvesknow -
23
this Man, delivered over by the 4predeterminedplan and foreknowledge of God, 5you nailed to a cross by the hands of [d]godlessmen and put Him to death.
24
"[e]But 6Godraised Him up again, putting an end to the [f]agony of death, since it 7was impossible* for Him to be held in its power.
25
"For Davidsays of Him, '8I SAW THE LORDALWAYS* IN MY PRESENCE; FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHTHAND, SO THAT I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
26
'THEREFORE* MY HEART WAS GLAD AND MY TONGUEEXULTED; MOREOVER* MY FLESHALSO WILL LIVE IN HOPE;
27
BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO 9HADES, 10NORALLOW YOUR HOLYONE TO UNDERGODECAY.
28
'YOU HAVE MADEKNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE; YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.'
29
"Brethren*, I mayconfidentlysay to you regarding the 11patriarchDavid that he both12died and 13was buried, and 14his tomb is with us to thisday.
30
"And so, because he was 15a prophet and knew that 16GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS* ON HIS THRONE,
31
he lookedahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that 17HE WAS NEITHERABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His fleshSUFFERDECAY.
32
"ThisJesus18Godraised up again, to which we are all19witnesses.

34
"For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himselfsays: '24THE LORDSAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHTHAND,
35
UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET."'
36
"Therefore let all the 25house of Israelknow for certain that God has made Him both26Lord and Christ-thisJesus27whom you crucified."
The Ingathering
37Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren*, 28what shall we do?"
38
Peter said to them, "29Repent, and each of you be 30baptized in the name of JesusChrist for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the HolySpirit.
39
"For 31the promise is for you and your children and for allwho are 32faroff, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself."
40
And with manyotherwords he solemnly33testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this34perversegeneration!"
41
Sothen, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were addedaboutthreethousand35souls.
42
They were 36continuallydevotingthemselves to the apostles'teaching and to fellowship, to 37the breaking of bread and 38to prayer.
43
Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many39wonders and signs were takingplacethrough the apostles.
44
And allthose who had believed were together** and 40hadallthings in common;
45
and they 41began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might haveneed.
46
42Day by daycontinuing with onemind in the temple, and 43breakingbread from house to house, they were taking their mealstogether with gladness and sincerity of heart,
47
praisingGod and 44havingfavor with all the people. And the Lord45was adding to their numberday by day46those who were being saved.
