54Now when they heardthis, they were 5cut to the quick, and they began gnashing their teeth at him.

But being6full of the HolySpirit, he 7gazedintently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesusstanding8at the righthand of God;

and he said, "Behold, I see the 9heavensopened up and 10the Son of Manstanding at the righthand of God."

But they cried out with a loudvoice, and covered their ears and rushed at him with oneimpulse.

When they had 11driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and 12the witnesses13laidaside their robes at the feet of 14a youngmannamedSaul.

They went on stoningStephen as he 15called on the Lord and said, "LordJesus, receive my spirit!"

Then16falling on his knees, he cried out with a loudvoice, "Lord, 17do not holdthissin against them!" Having saidthis, he 18fellasleep.
