Then they 1began laying their hands on them, and they were 2receiving the HolySpirit.

Now when Simonsaw that the Spirit was bestowedthrough the laying on of the apostles'hands, he offered them money,

saying, "Givethisauthority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the HolySpirit."

But Petersaid to him, "May your silverperish with you, because you thought you could 3obtain the gift of God with money!

"You have 4nopartorportion in thismatter, for your heart is not 5rightbeforeGod.
22
"Thereforerepent of thiswickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, 6ifpossible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.
23
"For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in 7the bondage of iniquity."
24
But Simonanswered and said, "8Pray to the Lord for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."
An Ethiopian Receives Christ
25So, when they had solemnly9testified and spoken10the word of the Lord, they startedback to Jerusalem, and were 11preaching the gospel to manyvillages of the 12Samaritans.

But 13an angel of the Lordspoke to 14Philipsaying, "Get up and gosouth to the road that descends from Jerusalem to 15Gaza." (This is a desert road. )

So he got up and went; and 16there was an Ethiopianeunuch, a courtofficial of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he 17had come to Jerusalem to worship,
