"Then it shall be, when you enter the landwhich the LORD your Godgives you as an inheritance, and you possess it and live in it,
that you shall takesome of 1the first of all the produce of the groundwhich you bring in from your land that the LORD your Godgives you, and you shall put it in a basket and 2go to the placewhere the LORD your Godchooses to establish His name.
"You shall go to the priestwho is in office at that time and say to him, 'I declare this day to the LORDamy God that I have entered the landwhich the LORDswore to our fathers to give us.'
"Then the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it downbefore the altar of the LORD your God.
"You shall answer and saybefore the LORD your God, '3My father was a bwanderingAramean, and he wentdown to Egypt and csojournedthere, 4few in number ; but there he became a 5great, mighty and populousnation.
'And the 6Egyptianstreated us harshly and afflicted us, and imposedhardlabor on us.
'Then 7we cried to the LORD, the God of our fathers, and the LORDheard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression ;
88and the LORDbrought us out of Egypt with a mightyhand and an outstretchedarm and with greatterror and with signs and wonders ;
and He has brought us to thisplace and has given us thisland, 9a landflowing with milk and honey.
10'Nowbehold, I have brought the first of the produce of the ground10which You, O LORD have given me.' And you shall set it downbefore the LORD your God, and worshipbefore the LORD your God ;
and you and 11the Levite and the alienwho is among you shall 12rejoice in all the goodwhich the LORD your God has given you and your household.
"13When you have finisheddpayingall the tithe of your increase in the thirdyear, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the eorphan and to the widow, that they may eat in your ftowns and be satisfied.
"You shall saybefore the LORD your God, 'I have removed the sacred portion from my house, and also have given it to the Levite and the alien, the gorphan and the widow, according to all Your commandmentswhich You have commanded me; 14I have not transgressed or forgottenany of Your commandments.
'I have not eaten of it hwhile mourning, nor have I removedany of it while I was unclean, norofferedany of it to the dead. I have listened to the voice of the LORD my God ; I have done according to all that You have commanded me.
'15Lookdown from Your holyhabitation, from heaven, and bless Your peopleIsrael, and the groundwhich You have given us, 16a landflowing with milk and honey, as You swore to our fathers.'
16"Thisday the LORD your Godcommands you to dothesestatutes and ordinances. You shall therefore be careful to do them 17with all your heart and with all your soul.
"18You have todaydeclared the LORD to be your God, and ithat you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice.
"The LORD has todaydeclared you to be 19His people, a treasuredpossession, as He promised you, and jthat you should keepall His commandments ;
and kthat He will 20set you highaboveallnationswhich He has made, for praise, fame, and honor ; and that you shall be 21a consecratedpeople to the LORD your God, as He has spoken."
