223Wives, 4be subject to your ownhusbands, 5as to the Lord.
For 6the husband is the head of the wife, as Christalso is the 7head of the church, He Himself8being the Savior of the body.
But as the church is subject to Christ, soalso the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
259Husbands, love your wives, just as Christalsoloved the church and 10gaveHimself up for her,
2611so that He might sanctify her, having 12cleansed her by the 13washing of water with 14the word,
that He might 15present to Himself the churchcin all her glory, havingnospotorwrinkleoranysuchthing; but that she would be 16holy and blameless.
28Sohusbandsoughtalso to 17love their ownwives as their ownbodies. He who loves his ownwifeloveshimself;
for nooneeverhated his ownflesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christalso does the church,
30because we are 18members of His 19body.
3120FOR THISREASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOMEONEFLESH.
32Thismystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
33Nevertheless, eachindividual among you also is to 21love his ownwife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she d22respects her husband.
