Then Hamansaid to the king, "For the manwhom the kingdesires to honor,
let them bring a royalrobewhich the king has worn, and 1the horse on which the king has ridden, and on whosehead2a royalcrown has been placed;
and let the robe and the horse be handedover to one of the king's most nobleprinces and let them array the manwhom the kingdesires to honor and lead him on horseback through the citysquare, 3and proclaimbefore him, 'Thus it shall be done to the manwhom the kingdesires to honor.' "
Then the kingsaid to Haman, "Takequickly the robes and the horse as you have said, and doso for Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting at the king'sgate; do not fall short in anything of all that you have said."
So Hamantook the robe and the horse, and arrayedMordecai, and led him on horseback through the citysquare, and proclaimedbefore him, "Thus it shall be done to the manwhom the kingdesires to honor."
Then Mordecaireturned to the king'sgate. But Hamanhurriedhome, mourning, 4with his headcovered.
13Hamanrecounted5to Zeresh his wife and all his friendseverything that had happened to him. Then his wisemen and Zeresh his wifesaid to him, "IfMordecai, beforewhom you have begun to fall, is aof Jewishorigin, you will not overcome him, but will surelyfallbefore him."
While they were stilltalking with him, the king'seunuchsarrived and hastily6broughtHaman to the banquetwhichEsther had prepared.
