Then he brought me back to the 1door of the house ; and behold, 2water was flowing from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the housefacedeast. And the water was flowingdown from under, from the rightside of the house, from south of the altar.
He brought me out by way of the northgate and led me aroundaon the outside to the outergate by way of the gate that faceseast. And behold, water was trickling from the southside.
When the manwent out toward the east with a line in his hand, he measured a thousandcubits, and he led me through the water, water reaching the ankles.
Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the knees. Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the loins.
Again he measured a thousand ; and it was a river that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a 3river that could not be forded.
He said to me, "Son of man, have you 4seen this?" Then he brought me bback to the bank of the river.
Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river there were verymany5trees on the oneside and on the other.
Then he said to me, "Thesewatersgo out toward the easternregion and godown into the 6Arabah ; then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the 7sea, and the waters of the sea becomecfresh.
"It will come about that everylivingcreaturewhichswarms in every place where the drivergoes, will live. And there will be verymanyfish, for thesewatersgothere and the others ebecomefresh ; so 8everything will livewhere the rivergoes.
"And it will come about that 9fishermen will standbeside it; from 10Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the 11spreading of nets. Their fish will be according to their kinds, like the fish of the 12GreatSea, 13verymany.
"But its swamps and marshes will not becomeffresh ; they will be gleft for 14salt.
"15By the river on its bank, on oneside and on the other, will growall kinds of 16trees for food. Their 17leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear every monthbecause their waterflows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their 18leaves for healing."
13Thussays the LordhGOD, "This shall be the 19boundary by which you shall divide the land for an inheritance among the twelvetribes of Israel ; Joseph shall have two20portions.
"You shall divide it for an inheritance, eachoneiequally with the other ; for I j21swore to give it to your forefathers, and thisland shall fall to you kas an inheritance.
15"This shall be the boundary of the land : on the 22northside, from the GreatSea by the way of Hethlon, to the entrance of l23Zedad ;
16m24Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of 25Damascus and the border of Hamath ; Hazer-hatticon, which is by the border of Hauran.
"The boundary shall nextend from the sea to 26Hazar-enan at the border of Damascus, and on the north toward the north is the border of Hamath. This is the northside.
"The 27eastside, from betweenHauran, Damascus, 28Gilead and the land of Israel, shall be the 29Jordan ; from the north border to the easternsea you shall measure. This is the eastside.
"The 30southside toward the south shall extend from 31Tamar as far as the waters of 32Meribath-kadesh , to the 33brook of Egypt and to the 34GreatSea. This is the southside toward the south.
"The 35westside shall be the GreatSea, from the south border to a point oppositeo36Lebo-hamath. This is the westside.
"So you shall dividethisland among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
"You shall divide it by 37lot for an inheritance among yourselves and among the 38aliens who stay in your midst, whobringforthsons in your midst. And they shall be to you as the native-born among the sons of Israel ; they shall be allotted an 39inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
"And in the tribe with which the alienstays, there you shall give him his inheritance," declares the LordGOD.
