1
Then he brought me back to the 1door of the house ; and behold, 2water was flowing from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the housefacedeast. And the water was flowingdown from under, from the rightside of the house, from south of the altar.
2
He brought me out by way of the northgate and led me aroundaon the outside to the outergate by way of the gate that faceseast. And behold, water was trickling from the southside.
3
When the manwent out toward the east with a line in his hand, he measured a thousandcubits, and he led me through the water, water reaching the ankles.
4
Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the knees. Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the loins.
5
Again he measured a thousand ; and it was a river that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a 3river that could not be forded.
6
He said to me, "Son of man, have you 4seen this?" Then he brought me bback to the bank of the river.
7
Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river there were verymany5trees on the oneside and on the other.
8
Then he said to me, "Thesewatersgo out toward the easternregion and godown into the 6Arabah ; then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the 7sea, and the waters of the sea becomecfresh.
9
"It will come about that everylivingcreaturewhichswarms in every place where the drivergoes, will live. And there will be verymanyfish, for thesewatersgothere and the others ebecomefresh ; so 8everything will livewhere the rivergoes.
10
"And it will come about that 9fishermen will standbeside it; from 10Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the 11spreading of nets. Their fish will be according to their kinds, like the fish of the 12GreatSea, 13verymany.
11
"But its swamps and marshes will not becomeffresh ; they will be gleft for 14salt.
12
"15By the river on its bank, on oneside and on the other, will growall kinds of 16trees for food. Their 17leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear every monthbecause their waterflows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their 18leaves for healing."
