1 I will 1stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart ; And I will 2keep watch to see 3what He will speak to me, And how I may reply awhen I am reproved. 2 Then the LORD answered me and said, "4Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That bthe one who creads it may run. 3 "For the vision is yet for the 5appointed time ; It dhastens toward the goal and it will not efail. Though it tarries, 6wait for it; For it will certainly come, it 7will not delay. 4 "Behold, as for the 8proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the 9righteous will live by his ffaith. 5 "Furthermore, 10wine betrays the 11haughty man, So that he does not 12stay at home. He 13enlarges his appetite like Sheol, And he is like death, never satisfied. He also gathers to himself all nations And collects to himself all peoples. 6 "Will not all of these 14take up a taunt-song against him, Even mockery and insinuations against him And say, '15Woe to him who increases what is not his- For how long - And makes himself grich with loans ?' 7 "Will not hyour creditors 16rise up suddenly, And those who icollect from you awaken ?
