Habakkuk 2:12-20

"Woe to him who 1builds a city with bloodshed And founds a town with violence!
"Is it not indeed from the LORD of hosts That peoples 2toil for fire, And nations grow weary for nothing?
"For the earth will be 3filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.
"Woe to you who make your neighbors drink, Who mix in your venom even to make them drunk So as to look on their nakedness!
"You will be filled with disgrace rather than honor. Now you yourself 4drink and expose your own nakedness. The 5cup in the LORD'S right hand will come around to you, And 6utter disgrace will come upon your glory.
"For the 7violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, And the devastation of its beasts by which you terrified them, 8Because of human bloodshed and 9violence done to the land, To the town and all its inhabitants.
"What 10profit is the idol when its maker has carved it, Or an image, a 11teacher of falsehood? For its maker 12trusts in his own handiwork When he fashions speechless idols.
"Woe to him who 13says to a piece of wood, '14Awake!' To a mute stone, 'Arise!' And that is your teacher? Behold, it is overlaid with 15gold and silver, And there is 16no breath at all inside it.
"But the 17LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth 18be silent before * Him."
