1Now the mainpoint in what has been said is this: we havesuch a 1highpriest, who has taken His seat at 2the righthand of the throne of the 3Majesty in the heavens,
a 4ministerain the sanctuary and bin the 5truectabernacle, which the Lord6pitched, not man.
For every7highpriest is appointed8to offerbothgifts and sacrifices ; so it is necessary that this high priest alsohavesomething to offer.
4Nowif He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who 9offer the giftsaccording to the Law ;
5whoserve10a copy and 11shadow of the heavenlythings, just as Mosesdwas 12warned by God when he was about to erect the etabernacle ; for, "13SEE," He says, "THAT YOU MAKEallthingsACCORDING TO THE PATTERN WHICH WAS SHOWN YOU ON THE MOUNTAIN."
But now He has obtained a moreexcellentministry, by as much as He is also the 14mediator of 15a bettercovenant, which has been enacted on betterpromises.
For 16if that first covenant had beenfaultless, there would have been nooccasionsought for a second.
For findingfault with them, He says, "17BEHOLD, DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, fWHEN I WILL EFFECT18A NEWCOVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH ;
919NOT LIKE THE COVENANTWHICH I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS ON THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT ; FOR THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DID NOT CARE FOR THEM, SAYS THE LORD.
