Now in that day the 1remnant of Israel, and those of the house of Jacob2who have escaped, will neveragainrely on the one who struck them, but will truly3rely on the LORD, the HolyOne of Israel.
A 4remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the 5mightyGod.
For 6though your people, O Israel, may be like the sand of the sea, Only a remnant within them will return ; A 7destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness.
For a completedestruction, one that is decreed, 8the LordaGOD of hosts will execute in the midst of the wholeland.
24Thereforethussays the LordbGOD of hosts, "O My people who dwell in 9Zion, 10do not fear the Assyriancwho 11strikes you with the rod and lifts up his staffagainst you, the wayEgypt did.
"For in a very12littlewhile13My indignation against you will be spent and My anger will be directed to their destruction."
The LORD of hosts will 14arouse a scourgeagainst him like the slaughter of 15Midian at the rock of Oreb ; and His 16staff will be over the sea and He will lift it up 17the way He did in Egypt.
So it will be in that day, that dhis 18burden will be removed from your shoulders and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be brokenbecause19of fatness.
He has comeagainstAiath, He has passed through 20Migron ; At 21Michmash he deposited his 22baggage.
They have gonethrough23the pass, saying, "24Geba will be our lodgingplace." 25Ramah is terrified, and 26Gibeah of Saul has fled away.
30Cryaloud with your voice, O daughter of 27Gallim ! Payattention, Laishah and ewretched28Anathoth !
31Madmenah has fled. The inhabitants of Gebim have soughtrefuge.
32Yettoday he will halt at 29Nob ; He 30shakes his fist at the mountain of the f31daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
33Behold, the Lord, the gGOD of hosts, will lopoff the boughs with a terriblecrash ; Those also who are 32tall in stature will be cutdown And those who are lofty will be abased.
He will cutdown the thickets of the forest with an iron axe, And 33Lebanon will fallhby the MightyOne.
