'1Seek the awelfare of the citywhere I have sent you into exile, and 2pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its bwelfare you will havecwelfare.'
"For thussays the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, 'Do not let your 3prophetswho are in your midst and your diviners4deceive you, and do not listen to d5the dreamswhichethey dream.
'For they 6prophesyfalsely to you in My name; 7I have not sent them,' declares the LORD.
"For thussays the LORD, 'When8seventyyears have beencompleted for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My 9goodword to you, to bring you back to thisplace.
'For I know the 10plans that I fhave for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for 11welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a 12hope.
'Then you will 13call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will 14listen to you.
'You will 15seek Me and find Me when you 16search for Me with all your heart.
'I will be 17found by you,' declares the LORD, 'and I will 18restore your gfortunes and will 19gather you from all the nations and from all the placeswhere I have driven you,' declares the LORD, 'and I will 20bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.'

17thussays the LORD of hosts, 'Behold, I am sending upon them the 23sword, famine and pestilence, and I will make them like 24split-openfigs that cannot be eatendue to rottenness.
