Then Jeremiahcalled1Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruchwrote on a a2scrollbat the dictation of Jeremiahall the words of the LORDwhich He had spoken to him.
5JeremiahcommandedBaruch, saying, "I am c3restricted ; I cannotgo into the house of the LORD.

"So you go and 4read from the scrollwhich you have 5writtendat my dictation the words of the LORDeto the people in the LORD'Shouse on a 6fastday. And also you shall read them fto all the people of Judah who come from their cities.

"7Perhaps their supplication will gcomebefore the LORD, and everyone will turn from his evilway, for 8great is the anger and the wrath that the LORD has pronouncedagainstthispeople."
8Baruch the son of Neriahdid according to all that Jeremiah the prophetcommanded him, 9reading from the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'Shouse.

Now in the 10fifthyear of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the 11ninthmonth, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who 12came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalemproclaimed a 13fastbefore the LORD.

Then Baruchread from the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD in the 14chamber of 15Gemariah the son of Shaphan the 16scribe, in the uppercourt, at the 17entry of the NewGate of the LORD'Shouse, to all the people.

Now when 18Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heardall the words of the LORD from the book,

he wentdown to the king'shouse, into the scribe'schamber. And behold, all the officials were sittingthere -19Elishama the scribe, and 20Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and 21Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the other officials.
13Micaiah22declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruchread from the book to the people.

Then all the officialssent23Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, "Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read to the people and come." So Baruch the son of Neriah24took the scroll in his hand and went to them.
