So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered*; others were saying, "1An angel has spoken to Him."

Jesusanswered and said, "2Thisvoice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes.

"3Nowjudgment is upon thisworld; now4the ruler of thisworld will be cast out.

"And I, if I 5am lifted up from the earth, will 6drawallmen to Myself."

But He was sayingthis7to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.

The crowdthenanswered Him, "We have heard out of 8the Law that 9the Christ is to remainforever; and how can You say, 'The 10Son of Manmust be 11lifted up'? Who is this12Son of Man?"

SoJesussaid to them, "13For a littlewhilelonger14the Light is among you. 15Walkwhile you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who 16walks in the darkness does not knowwhere he goes.

"While you have the Light, 17believe in the Light, so that you may become18sons of Light."ThesethingsJesusspoke, and He wentaway and 19hid Himself from them.

But though He had performedsomanysignsbefore them, yet they were not believing in Him.

This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophetwhich he spoke: "20LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?"
