Words to the Disciples

59 These things He said ¹in the synagogue as He taught ²in Capernaum. 60 Therefore many of His ³disciples, when they heard this said, "⁴This is a difficult statement ; who can listen to it?" 61 But Jesus, ⁵conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, "Does this ⁶cause you to stumble ? 62 "What then if you see ⁷the Son of Man ⁸ascending to where He was before ? 63 "⁹It is the Spirit who gives life ; the flesh profits nothing ; ¹⁰the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. 64 "But there are ¹¹some of you who do not believe." For Jesus ¹²knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and ¹³who it was that would ^abetray Him. 65 And He was saying, "For this reason I have ¹⁴said to you, that no one can come to Me unless ¹⁵it has been granted him from the Father."
