11
1So the Jews2were seeking Him at the feast and were saying, "Where is He?"
12
There was muchgrumblingamong the crowdsconcerning Him; 3some were saying, "He is a goodman "; others were saying, "No, on the contrary, He leads the peopleastray."
13
Yetnoone was speakingopenly of Him for 4fear of the Jews.
14
But when it was now the midst of the feastJesuswent up into the temple, and began to 5teach.
15
6The Jewsthen were astonished, saying, "How has thisman7becomelearned, having never been educated?"
16
SoJesusanswered them and said, "8My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
17
"9Ifanyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of Godor whether I speak from Myself.
18
"He who speaks from himself10seeks his ownglory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is nounrighteousness in Him.
19
"11Did not Mosesgive you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you 12seek to kill Me?"
20
The crowdanswered, "13You have a demon! Whoseeks to kill You?"
21
Jesusanswered them, "I did14onedeed, and you allmarvel.
22
"For thisreason15Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from 16the fathers ), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
23
"17If a manreceivescircumcision on the Sabbathso that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entiremanwell on the Sabbath?
24
"Do not 18judgeaccording to appearance, but judge with righteousjudgment."
25
Sosome of the people of Jerusalem were saying, "Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill?
26
"Look, He is speakingpublicly, and they are sayingnothing to Him. 19The rulers do not reallyknow that this is the Christ, do they?
27
"However, 20we knowwherethisman is from; but whenever the Christ may come, nooneknowswhere He is from."
28
ThenJesuscried out in the temple, 21teaching and saying, "22You bothknow Me and knowwhere I am from; and 23I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
29
"24I know Him, because25I am from Him, and 26He sent Me."
30
So they 27were seeking to seize Him; and nomanlaid his hand on Him, because His 28hour had not yetcome.
31
But 29many of the crowdbelieved in Him; and they were saying, "30When the Christcomes, He will not performmore31signs than those whichthisman has, will He?"
32
The Phariseesheard the crowdmutteringthesethingsabout Him, and the chiefpriests and the Phariseessent32officers to 33seize Him.
33
ThereforeJesussaid, "34For a littlewhilelonger I am with you, then35I go to Him who sent Me.
34
"36You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot*come."
35
37The Jewsthensaid to oneanother, "38Where does thismanintend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to 39the Dispersion among 40the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?
36
"What is thisstatement that He said, '41You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot*come '?"
