1The Jewsthensaid to oneanother, "2Where does thismanintend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to 3the Dispersion among 4the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?

"What is thisstatement that He said, '5You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot*come '?"

Now on 6the lastday, the great day of the feast, Jesusstood and cried out, saying, "7Ifanyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.

"He who believes in Me, 8as the Scripturesaid, 'From his innermostbeing will flowrivers of 9livingwater.' "

But this He spoke10of the Spirit, whomthose who believed in Him were to receive; for 11the Spirit was not yet given, becauseJesus was not yet12glorified.
Division of People over Jesus
40 Some of the peopletherefore, when they heardthesewords, were saying, "Thiscertainly is 13the Prophet."

Others were saying, "This is the Christ." Still others were saying, "14Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?

"Has not the Scripturesaid that the Christcomes from 15the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the villagewhereDavid was?"

So16a divisionoccurred in the crowdbecause of Him.

17Some of them wanted to seize Him, but noonelaidhands on Him.

The 18officersthencame to the chiefpriests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why* did you not bring Him?"
