Now the son of an Israelitewoman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and the Israelitewoman'sson and a man of Israelstruggled with each other in the camp.
The son of the Israelitewomanblasphemed the 1Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother'sname was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)
They put him in acustodybso that 2the command of the LORD might be madeclear to them.
Then the LORDspoke to Moses, saying,
14"Bring the one who has cursedoutside the camp, and let all who heard him 3lay their hands on his head; then 4let all the congregationstone him.
"You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, '5Ifanyonecurses his God, then he will bear his sin.
'Moreover, the one who 6blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainlystone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.
'7If a manctakes the life of anyhumanbeing, he shall surely be put to death.
'8The one who dtakes the life of an animal shall make it good, life for life.
19'If a maneinjures his neighbor, just as he has done, so it shall be done to him:
209fracture for fracture, 10eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has finjured a man, so it shall be ginflicted on him.
'Thus the one who hkills an animal shall make it good, but 11the one who ikills a man shall be put to death.
'There shall be 12onejstandard for you; it shall be for the stranger as well as the native, for I am the LORD your God.' "
Then Mosesspoke to the sons of Israel, and they brought the one who had cursedoutside the camp and stoned him with stones. Thus the sons of Israeldid, just as the LORD had commandedMoses.
