"Likewise a Levitealso, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the otherside.

"But a 1Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he feltcompassion,

and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouringoil and wine on them; and he put him on his ownbeast, and brought him to an inn and tookcare of him.

"On the nextday he took out twodenarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Takecare of him; and whatever**more you spend, when I return I will repay you.'

"Which of thesethree do you thinkproved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?"

And he said, "The one who showedmercytoward him." ThenJesussaid to him, "Go and do the same."
Martha and Mary
38Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a womannamed2Marthawelcomed Him into her home.

She had a sistercalled3Mary, who was 4seated at the Lord'sfeet, listening to His word.

But 5Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the servingalone? Thentell her to help me."

But the Lordanswered and said to her, "6Martha, Martha, you are 7worried and botheredabout so manythings;

8but only onething is necessary, for 9Mary has chosen the goodpart, which shall not be takenaway from her."
