12"And if you have not beenfaithful in the use of that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?13"1Noaservantcanservetwomasters ; for either he will hate the one and love the other, orelse he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannotserveGod and b2wealth."14Now the Pharisees, who were 3lovers of money, were listening to allthesethings and 4were scoffing at Him.
And He said to them, "You are those who 5justifyyourselvescin the sight of men, but 6Godknows your hearts ; for that which is highlyesteemedamongmen is detestabledin the sight of God.16"7The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed untilJohn ; since that time8the gospel of the kingdom of Godehas been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.17"9But it is easier for heaven and earth to passawaythan for onefstroke of a letter of the Law to fail.18"10Everyone who gdivorces his wife and marriesanothercommitsadultery, and he who marries one who is hdivorced from a husbandcommitsadultery.
19"Now there was a richman, and he habitually dressed in purple and finelinen, joyouslyliving in splendoreveryday.20"And a poormannamedLazarus11was laid at his gate, covered with sores,21and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the richman'stable ; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.22"Now the poormandied and was carriedaway by the angels to 12Abraham'sbosom ; and the richmanalsodied and was buried.
