And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, 1there is noonewho has lefthouseorwifeorbrothersorparentsorchildren, for the sake of the kingdom of God,

who will not receivemanytimes as much at thistime and in 2the age to come, eternallife."

3Then He took the twelveaside and said to them, "Behold, 4we are going up to Jerusalem, and 5allthings which are writtenthrough the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.

"6For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon,

and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the thirdday He will riseagain."

But 7the disciples understoodnone of thesethings, and the meaning of thisstatement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.

Those who led the way were sternlytelling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, "11Son of David, havemercy on me!"
