And he released the man they were asking for who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he deliveredJesus to their will.
Simon Bears the Cross
261When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of 2Cyrene, coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carrybehindJesus.

And following Him was a largecrowd of the people, and of womenwho were 3mourning and lamenting Him.

But Jesusturning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, stopweeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

"For behold, the days are comingwhen* they will say, '4Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that neverbore, and the breasts that nevernursed.'

"Then they will begin TO 5SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'

"For if they dothesethingswhen the tree is green, what will happenwhen it is dry?"

6Twoothersalso, who were criminals, were being ledaway to be put to death with Him.
The Crucifixion
337When they came to the placecalled The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

But Jesus was saying, "8Father, forgive them; for they do not knowwhat they are doing."9And they castlots, dividing up His garmentsamong themselves.

And the peoplestood by, looking on. And even the 10rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He savedothers; 11let Him saveHimselfifthis is the Christ of God, His ChosenOne."
