And His father and 1mother were amazed at the things which were being saidabout Him.

And Simeonblessed them and said to Mary2His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for 3the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed -
35
and a sword will pierceeven your ownsoul -to the end that thoughts from manyhearts may be revealed."

And there was a 4prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of 5the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years6and had lived with her husbandsevenyearsafter her marriage,
37
and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four*. She neverleft the temple, servingnight and day with 7fastings and prayers.

At that verymoment she came up and began givingthanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to allthose who were 8looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Return to Nazareth
39When they had performedeverythingaccording to the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to 9their owncity of Nazareth.

10The Child continued to grow and becomestrong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
Visit to Jerusalem
41 Now His parentswent to Jerusalemeveryyear at 11the Feast of the Passover.

And when He becametwelve, they went up there according to the custom of the Feast;

and as they were returning, after spending the 12fullnumber of days, the boyJesusstayedbehind in Jerusalem. But His parents were unaware* of it,
