And 1He camedown to 2Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath;

and 3they were amazed at His teaching, for 4His message was with authority.

In the synagogue there was a manpossessed by the spirit of an uncleandemon, and he cried out with a loudvoice,

"Let us alone! 5What business do we have with each other, Jesus of 6Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I knowwho You are-7the HolyOne of God!"

But Jesus8rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he came out of him withoutdoing him anyharm.

And amazementcame upon them all, and they began talking with oneanothersaying, "What is thismessage? For 9with authority and power He commands the uncleanspirits and they come out."

And 10the reportabout Him was spreading into everylocality in the surroundingdistrict.
Many Are Healed
3811Then He got up and left the synagogue, and enteredSimon'shome. NowSimon'smother-in-law was 12suffering from a highfever, and they asked Him to help her.

And standingover her, He 13rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediatelygot up and waited on them.
40
14While 15the sun was setting, allthosewhohad any who were sick with variousdiseasesbrought them to Him; and 16laying His hands on eachone of them, He was 17healing them.

Demonsalso were coming out of many, shouting, "You are 18the Son of God!" But 19rebuking them, He would 20not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.

21When daycame, Jesus left and went to a secludedplace; and the crowds were searching for Him, and came to Him and tried to keep Him from goingaway from them.
43
But He said to them, "I mustpreach the kingdom of God to the othercitiesalso, 22for I was sent for this purpose."

So He kept on preaching in the synagogues23of Judea.
