Now as He approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the onlyson of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeablecrowd from the city was with her.

When 1the Lordsaw her, He feltcompassion for her, and said to her, "Do not weep."

And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearerscame to a halt. And He said, "Youngman, I say to you, arise!"

The deadmansat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother.

2Feargripped them all, and they began 3glorifyingGod, saying, "A great4prophet has arisenamong us!" and, "God has visited His people!"

5Thisreportconcerning Him went out alloverJudea and in all the surroundingdistrict.

When the mencame to Him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, 'Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someoneelse?' "

At that very time He 8curedmany people of diseases and 9afflictions and evilspirits; and He gavesight to many who were blind.

And He answered and said to them, "Go and report to Johnwhat you have seen and heard: the 10BLINDRECEIVESIGHT, the lamewalk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deafhear, the dead are raised up, the 11POOR HAVE THE GOSPELPREACHED TO THEM.
