And they said, "Some say 5John the Baptist; and others, 6Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, orone of the prophets."

He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

And Jesussaid to him, "Blessed are you, 10SimonBarjona, because11flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Fatherwho is in heaven.

"I alsosay to you that you are 12Peter, and upon thisrock I will build My church; and the gates of 13Hades will not overpower it.

"I will give you 14the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and 15whatever* you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever* you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."

16Then He warned the disciples that they should tellnoone that He was 17the Christ.
Jesus Foretells His Death
2118From that timeJesusbegan to show His disciples that He mustgo to Jerusalem, and 19suffermanythings from the elders and chiefpriests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the thirdday.
