14"1For it is justlike a man2about to go on a journey, who called his ownslaves and entrusted his possessions to them.15"To one he gavefivea3talents, to another , two, and to another , one, eachaccording to his ownability ; and he 4went on his journey.16"Immediately the one who had received the five5talentswent and traded with them, and gainedfivemore talents.17"In the samemanner the one who had received the two talents gainedtwomore.18"But he who received the one talent wentaway, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his bmaster'smoney.19"Nowafter a longtime the master of thoseslavescame and 6settledaccounts with them.20"The one who had received the five7talentscame up and broughtfivemoretalents, saying, 'Master, you entrustedfivetalents to me. See, I have gainedfivemoretalents.'21"His mastersaid to him, 'Welldone, good and 8faithfulslave. You were faithful with a fewthings, I will 9put you in charge of manythings ; enter into the joy of your cmaster.'22"Also the onewho had received the two10talentscame up and said, 'Master, you entrustedtwotalents to me. See, I have gainedtwomoretalents.'23"His mastersaid to him, 'Welldone, good and 11faithfulslave. You were faithful with a fewthings, I will put you in charge of manythings ; enter into the joy of your master.'24"And the one also who had received the one12talentcame up and said, 'Master, I knew you to be a hardman, reapingwhere you did not sow and gatheringwhere you scatteredno seed.25'And I was afraid, and wentaway and hid your talent in the ground. See, you havewhat is yours.'26"But his masteranswered and said to him, 'You wicked, lazyslave, you knew that I reapwhere I did not sow and gatherwhere I scatteredno seed.27'Then you ought to have put my moneydin the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest.28'Thereforetakeaway the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the tentalents.'29"13For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance ; but from the one who does not have, evenwhat he does have shall be takenaway.30"Throw out the worthlessslave into 14the outerdarkness ; in that placethere will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
