And sittingdown, they began to 1keepwatchover Him there.
And above His head they put up the chargeagainst Him awhich read, "2THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
At that timetworobbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.
And thosepassing by were bhurlingabuse at Him, 3wagging their heads40
and saying, "4You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in threedays, saveYourself! 5If You are the Son of God, comedown from the cross."
In the sameway the chiefpriestsalso, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying,
"6He savedothers; cHe cannotsaveHimself. 7He is the King of Israel; let Him nowcomedown from the cross, and we will believe in Him.
"8HE TRUSTS IN GOD; LET GODRESCUE Him now, IF HE dDELIGHTS IN HIM; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "
449The robbers who had been crucified with Him were alsoinsulting Him with the same words.

46About the ninthhourJesuscried out with a loudvoice, saying, "11ELI, ELI, LAMASABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"
