And Jesus1cried out again with a loudvoice, and yielded up His spirit.

2And behold, 3the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and 4the earthshook and the rocks were split.

The tombs were opened, and manybodies of the saints who had 5fallenasleep were raised;

and coming out of the tombsafter His resurrection they entered6the holycity and appeared to many.

7Now the centurion, and those who were with him 8keepingguardoverJesus, when they saw9the earthquake and the things that were happening, became veryfrightened and said, "Trulythis was 10the Son of God!"

11Manywomen were therelooking on from a distance, who had followedJesus from Galilee while 12ministering to Him.

Among them was 13MaryMagdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and 14the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
Jesus Is Buried
5715When it was evening, there came a richman from Arimathea, namedJoseph, whohimself had alsobecome a disciple of Jesus.

Thismanwent to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ThenPilateordered it to be given to him.

And Josephtook the body and wrapped it in a cleanlinencloth,

and laid it in his own newtomb, which he had hewn out in the rock; and he rolled16a largestone against the entrance of the tomb and wentaway.
