and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throwYourselfdown; for it is written, '1HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELSCONCERNING YOU'; and 'ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOTAGAINST A STONE.' "

Jesussaid to him, "On the otherhand, it is written, '2YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.' "

3Again, the deviltook Him to a veryhighmountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;

and he said to Him, "4Allthesethings I will give You, if You falldown and worship me."

ThenJesussaid to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, '5YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.' "

Then the devilleft Him; and behold, 6angelscame and began to minister to Him.
Jesus Begins His Ministry
12Now when Jesus heard that 7John had been taken into custody, 8He withdrew into Galilee;

and leavingNazareth, He came and 9settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.

This was to fulfillwhat was spokenthroughIsaiah the prophet:

"10THE LAND OF ZEBULUN AND THE LAND OF NAPHTALI, BY THE WAY OF THE SEA, BEYOND THE JORDAN, GALILEE OF THE GENTILES -

"11THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESSSAW A GREATLIGHT, AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH, UPON THEM A LIGHTDAWNED."
