12Now when Jesus heard that 1John had been taken into custody, 2He withdrew into Galilee;

and leavingNazareth, He came and 3settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.

This was to fulfillwhat was spokenthroughIsaiah the prophet:

"4THE LAND OF ZEBULUN AND THE LAND OF NAPHTALI, BY THE WAY OF THE SEA, BEYOND THE JORDAN, GALILEE OF THE GENTILES -

"5THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESSSAW A GREATLIGHT, AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH, UPON THEM A LIGHTDAWNED."

6From that timeJesusbegan to preach and say, "7Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
The First Disciples
188Now as Jesus was walking by 9the Sea of Galilee, He sawtwobrothers, 10Simon who was calledPeter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

And He said to them, "Follow* Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

Going on from there He sawtwootherbrothers, 11James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.

Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
Ministry in Galilee
23 Jesus was going12throughoutallGalilee, 13teaching in their synagogues and 14proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and 15healingeverykind of disease and everykind of sicknessamong the people.

The news about Him spread16throughoutallSyria; and they brought to Him all who were ill*, those suffering with variousdiseases and pains, 17demoniacs, 18epileptics, 19paralytics; and He healed them.

Largecrowds20followed Him from Galilee and 21the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from 22beyond the Jordan.
