ThenPilatesaid to the chiefpriests and the crowds, "1I findnoguilt in thisman.

But they kept on insisting, saying, "He stirs up the people, teachingalloverJudea, 2starting from Galilee even as far as thisplace."

WhenPilateheard it, he askedwhether the man was a Galilean.

And when he learned that He belonged* to Herod'sjurisdiction, he sent Him to 3Herod, who himselfalso was in Jerusalem at that time.

8NowHerod was veryglad when he sawJesus; for 4he hadwanted to see Him for a longtime, because he had been hearingabout Him and was hoping to seesomesignperformed by Him.

And he questioned Him at somelength*; but 5He answered him nothing.

And the chiefpriests and the scribes were standing there, accusing Him vehemently.

And Herod with his soldiers, after treating Him with contempt and mocking Him, 6dressed Him in a gorgeousrobe and sent Him back to Pilate.

Now7Herod and Pilatebecamefriends with oneanother that veryday; for before they had been*enemies with eachother.
