"One third you shall burn in the fire at the center of the city, when the days of the siege are completed. Then you shall take one third and strike it with the sword all around the city, and one third you shall scatter to the wind; and I will unsheathe a sword behind them.
"Thus says the Lord GOD, 'Clap your hand, stamp your foot and say, "Alas, because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, which will fall by sword, famine and plague!
'My eye will show no pity nor will I spare. I will repay you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst; then you will know that I, the LORD , do the smiting.
But to the others He said in my hearing, "Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye have pity and do not spare.
And He said to them, "Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!" Thus they went out and struck down the people in the city.
As they were striking the people and I alone was left, I fell on my face and cried out saying, "Alas, Lord GOD! Are You destroying the whole remnant of Israel by pouring out Your wrath on Jerusalem?"
"You therefore, son of man, prophesy and clap your hands together ; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword for the slain. It is the sword for the great one slain, which surrounds them,
"I will also clap My hands together , and I will appease My wrath; I, the LORD , have spoken."
"Behold, then, I smite My hand at your dishonest gain which you have acquired and at the bloodshed which is among you.
"When I make the land of Egypt a desolation, And the land is destitute of that which filled it, When I smite all those who live in it, Then they shall know that I am the LORD .
Now in the twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth of the tenth month, the refugees from Jerusalem came to me, saying, "The city has been taken."
"I will strike your bow from your left hand and dash down your arrows from your right hand.
In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was taken, on that same day the hand of the LORD was upon me and He brought me there.
