Psalms 19:1-10

The Works and the Word of God.

1 The 1heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their 2expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
2 Day to 3day pours forth speech, And 4night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard.
4 Their 5line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has 6placed a tent for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
6 Its 7rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 8The law of the LORD is 9perfect, 10restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is 11sure, making 12wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are 13right, 14rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is 15pure, 16enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are 17true; they are 18righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than 19gold, yes, than much fine gold; 20Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.

Psalms 19:1-10 Meaning and Commentary

To the chief Musician, a Psalm of David. This psalm was penned by David, and inscribed to the chief musician, as others, to be used in public service, and was designed for Gospel times, as the subject of it shows; which is first, not an account of the light of nature, and then of the law of Moses, but of the Gospel of Christ; and especially as ministered in the times of the apostles, as a citation out of it in Romans 10:18, makes clear.
