Psalms 33:8-18

8 Let 1all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world 2stand in awe of Him.
9 For 3He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
10 The LORD 4nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 The 5counsel of the LORD stands forever, The 6plans of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the 7nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has 8chosen for His own inheritance.
13 The LORD 9looks from heaven; He 10sees all the sons of men;
14 From 11His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who 12fashions the hearts of them all, He who 13understands all their works.
16 14The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A 15horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.
18 Behold, 16the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who 17hope for His lovingkindness,

Psalms 33:8-18 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 33

Though this psalm has no title to it, it seems to be a psalm of David, from the style and matter of it; and indeed begins with the same words with which the preceding psalm is ended. Theodoret is of opinion it was written by David as a prophecy concerning Hezekiah, as a song to be sung by the people after the destruction of the Assyrian army.
