"The fruitayou long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passedaway from you and men will nolongerfind them.

16saying, '4Woe, woe, 5the greatcity, she who 6was clothed in finelinen and purple and scarlet, and badorned with gold and preciouscstones and pearls ;
for in 7onehoursuchgreatwealth has been laid8waste !' And 9everyshipmaster and everydpassenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, 10stood at a distance,
and were 11crying out as they 12saw the smoke of her burning, saying, '13What city is like14the greatcity ?'
"And they threw15dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, '16Woe, woe, the greatcity, in whichall who hadships at sea17became rich by her ewealth, for in 18onehour she has been laid19waste !'
"20Rejoiceover her, O heaven, and you fsaints and 21apostles and prophets, because22God has gpronouncedjudgment for you against her."
21Thenha 23strongangel24took up a stonelike a greatmillstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "So will Babylon, 25the greatcity, be thrown down with violence, and 26will not be foundanylonger.
"And 27the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you anylonger ; and nocraftsman of anycraft will be found in you anylonger ; and the 28sound of a mill will not be heard in you anylonger ;
and the light of a lamp will not shine in you anylonger ; and the 29voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you anylonger ; for your 30merchants were the greatmen of the earth, becauseall the nations were deceived31by your sorcery.
"And in her was found the 32blood of prophets and of isaints and of 33all who have been slain on the earth."
