Genesis 31:5

5 He said to them, "I have seen that your father is not as friendly with me as he used to be, but the God of my father has been with me.

Genesis 31:5 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 31:5

And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it
[is] not towards me as before (See Gill on Genesis 31:2); no notice is taken of what their brethren, the sons of Laban, had said: but the God of my father hath been with me;
not only by affording him his gracious presence with him, which supported him under all his troubles; but by his good providence prospering and succeeding him in his outward affairs, as well as he had lately appeared to him, and encouraged him to return to his own country.

Genesis 31:5 In-Context

3 The Lord said to Jacob, "Go back to the land where your ancestors lived, and I will be with you."
4 So Jacob told Rachel and Leah to meet him in the field where he kept his flocks.
5 He said to them, "I have seen that your father is not as friendly with me as he used to be, but the God of my father has been with me.
6 You both know that I have worked as hard as I could for your father,
7 but he cheated me and changed my pay ten times. But God has not allowed your father to harm me.
