Mark 13:31

31 Earth and sky will be destroyed, but the words I have said will never be destroyed.

Mark 13:31 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 13:31

Heaven and earth shall pass away
Which may be understood either affirmatively, as what will be at the second coming of Christ; or comparatively, rather than any thing said by Christ should; and so shows the certainty and irreversibleness of his predictions, as it follows:

but my words shall not pass away;
which is true of all the words of Christ he ever spake, and here particularly relates to those he had just delivered, concerning the calamities that should come upon the Jewish nation; (See Gill on Matthew 24:35).

Mark 13:31 In-Context

29 In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that the time is near, ready to come.
30 I tell you the truth, all these things will happen while the people of this time are still living.
31 Earth and sky will be destroyed, but the words I have said will never be destroyed.
32 "No one knows when that day or time will be, not the angels in heaven, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.
33 Be careful! Always be ready, because you don't know when that time will be.
